An Important Update from the Calgary Walk to Remember
It is with very heavy hearts that we share that the Calgary Walk to Remember will not take place in 2026.
This decision was not made lightly.
For more than a decade, this Walk has been rooted in one simple but powerful purpose: to create a safe and meaningful space for families to honour their babies, speak their names, and stand alongside others who understand this kind of grief.
Being part of this community has brought so many of us immense pride, profound healing, and a sense of connection that is difficult to put into words. Walking beside so many families over the years has been one of the greatest honours of our lives.
Unfortunately, this year our small committee of three is facing significant personal, family, and health challenges. We tried very hard to find a way to make the Walk happen in some form, but ultimately, we had to recognize that our own families and health need our attention—and that this community deserves an event we can give our full hearts and energy to.
For that reason, we have made the difficult decision to take a break this year.
We are sincerely sorry to every family who was looking forward to gathering with us in September. We know how meaningful this day is, and we do not take that loss lightly.
Our hope is that this pause allows us to rest, regroup, and return stronger in the future. We remain deeply committed to the heart and purpose of the Calgary Walk to Remember and to continuing to create a space where our babies are remembered, honoured, and always spoken of with love.
We also continue to welcome anyone who may be interested in volunteering or joining our committee in the future. This Walk has always been built by the community, and its future will be stronger with more hands and hearts helping carry it forward.
Thank you for your understanding, your compassion, and for trusting us with your babies’ names and stories over all these years.
This is not goodbye.

Why do we walk?
There is a reality so sad, so distressing, that many cannot fathom it. And yet, for 15,000 Alberta parents whose babies are lost each year via miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth and neonatal death, it is an experience they will never forget. Having to say goodbye when never having the opportunity to say hello haunts these parents each day. And yet, these babies brought so much joy to their families. Each of them had an expected arrival, a highly anticipated future. Any one of them could have grown up to be a scientist or a snowboarder, a teacher or a poet. Each one of them was supposed to have a first birthday, a last day of school, a first kiss, a last dance. Their possibilities were, purely, endless.
Parents who have lost babies do not need closure. They simply want an opportunity to openly remember, a chance to grieve and, a quiet moment to honour, without judgment, amongst other families who know this experience far too intimately.
So, we will walk. We walk alongside mothers and fathers who tread heavily with empty arms and grief in their hearts. We walk to acknowledge our grief. We walk to give voice to babies who never had the opportunity to speak. We walk because there is comfort in community and hope in healing. Life carries on, grief dwells in our hearts, but…

Can I bring my dog on the walk?
Yes. It is a public park and dogs are welcome. Please pick up after your dog and keep them on leash.
Can I register the day of the walk?
Yes. We do encourage you to register online. If you do register the day of the walk there will be no personalization of keepsakes.
I would love to volunteer. How do I offer to help?
All the help the Calgary Walk to Remember can get is appreciated. Please contact [email protected] and we can discuss what you would like to volunteer with.
Do all walk attendees need to fill out the registration form?
Yes. All walk attendees need to fill out the registration form so that each person consents to the waiver. Children can be registered by an adult.
If I am unable to attend the walk am I able to pick up my angel baby(s)’s keepsakes?
Yes. We will have a pick up location set up after the walk where you can pick up the keepsakes.
Will there be photos and videos at the walk?
Yes. By filling out the registration form you are consenting to pictures and videos being taken. These pictures and videos may be used on Calgary Walk to Remember’s social media. As well, individual family photos will be posted on an online database. All walk attendees will be able to see all the pictures.
Is there a way to honour multiple children I have lost?
Yes, you can add multiple names on the registration form.
